 Major Project

For Major project the goal is to create a project within your specialization based on one of three given themes. They are ; based on dissertation, UN SDG's or working with a client. The one I decided to go with was the UN SDG's, specifically Goal one which is End Poverty.

Week 1

Week 1 of basic briefing of the project and giving us our task to create the slides on our ideas to present in Week 2. We had to select what we were basing our project on and give ideas on what we plan to make. We also had to do research and create a problem statement for the ideas.

Week 2

For week 2, we presented our ideas and took feedback to get our ideas approved. My idea to create a rotoscope animation was fine and I was told to present more details of the project for the coming week.

Week 3

In week 3 I presented more details and got my idea further approved, I was asked to complete the storyboards for the project before getting the footage.

Week 4

In week 4 we had our first consultation with our supervisor. I explained my idea and got it approved by him. I was given feedback to find the with the music selection for it so it'll easier tp plan the flow of the movie.

Week 5

Music and storyboard was confirmed by supervisor, footage recording will be carried out while simultaneous making an animatics to sync footage to the music to test out organizing of the footage.

Week 6

Was advised to find another choice for music and to show the artstyle of the animation.

Week 7-8

After presentation, I was informed to continue working on it so I started. While Animating I noticed moving subject would not align correctly as I was animating on two at 24FPS. Which means the footage would be at 24FPS while the animated layer is at 12FPS. This led to the footage to be 1 second faster so to fix this issue I removed the subject from the footage using After effects content aware tool.

Week 9-10

Week 9 and most of week 10 was animating, coloring and some post processing in after effects. After animating was done in week 10, everything was brought into premier pro and put together. Color grading, camera movement was done and now iim prepping for the sound design.

Final outcome

The final few weeks consisted of final touches and fine tuning everything. No major changes occurred during this week just minor changes to color grading and audio adjustments.

 Project 1 For project 1 I chose to create audio for everyday life. I wrote a storyline for it and then started finding sounds for it. Emma - I liked her one because the mixing was great with the use of pans and it gave me the feeling of the 2000's movies set in New York City. Xin Yi - I liked Xin Yi's one because it was different from everyone else daily routine or commute type audio. It was of the outdoor and nature so it felt nice to listen to and reminded me of a hike or camping trip.

Design Principles - Week 3 Repetition, Movement, Hierarchy & Alignment

Week 3 This weeks lecture was about the design principles Repetition & Movement. Repetition is the uses of repeated shapes or elements in a piece to create a composition. It can be symmetrical or not. Movement is a composition that shows the movement in an image. Although an image is still a lot of elements can be used to show movement including lines and actions and different parts of the composition to emphasize the subject to be moving. Hierarchy and alignment is basically how a design is used to lead the viewer into a text or a subject by using different elements in it. Exercise 3 This exercise required you to make 2 artworks based on each principle Repetition and Movement, while applying hierarchy and alignment into it. Animation Fundamentals - Project 2

 Project 2 - Character Acting & Lip Sync For project to we had to select a voice clip from the ones provided and make a lip sync to it of our character. Figure 1 - Expression sheet Figure 2 - Character lipsync video Reflection I struggled with this project a little more than the first one. I was having trouble getting the tween to work. But the consultation and feedback from Miss Jen helped immensely I managed to figure out how the symbols work and I was done in no time. Syncing the lips tp the speech was also a bit difficult but after playing around with a little bit, I got the hang of it.
