Week 5 - Perception & Organization
This weeks lecture is on perception and organization. It discusses how contrast, form and organization is used to create a layout of type with good visual hierarchy.
The first and very important thing used to create good and perception and organization is contrast. The meaning of contrast is when something stands out or is highlighted within a layout. The many ways which is used to give contrast are: size, color, weight, texture and direction. The next form is the overall look of the layout to give it a visual form. last one organization, is pretty self explanatory. which is how the contrast and form are placed in the layout to give its finished look.
Instructions

To create a key artwork for the given title events in the first exercise. I selected the topic: All Ripped Up: Punk Influences on Design.
I started by doing research online.

I noticed that a lot of punk influenced designs were very colorful with a black and white element in it. I decided to go for a feel like that.
I made the background using a television test card, which I felt was very symbolic of the early punk movement days. I kept the letters in boxes made in pentool.

I decided to make a second key artwork, using the same design aesthetic. I used the television test cards colors to create a very colorful background that resembles the 80's music art. I tested different fonts on the middle section of it.

After getting feed back, I was told it does not work well with the title which is punk. So I re did it, using some elements from my first artworks.

After getting feedback, I was told to change the second font and make the paper seem more torn.

Feedback
Week 5
Specific: Should not have a background, does not work with the title well, Need to redo.
General: Key artwork should work in black and white and should be without a background.
Week 6
Specific: Font for ''punk influences on design'' does not work. Paper needs to be more torn
General: work on making the poster this week.
Reflection
Week 5
Experience : Fully a feedback session, went by very fast, as instead of screen sharing we showed our work on FB.
Observation : Project 1's key artwork should be an element on it's own instead of like a poster. It should work well when implemented into other things, which we we will be doing as collateral.
Findings : A lot of research is needed to do this correctly.
Week 6
Experience : Very short feedback session on key artwork progress.
Observation : Designing a good key artwork is very difficult, compared by other assignments.
Findings : A lot of students still need work on their key artwork before moving onto the poster.
