LECTURES
Week 9: 12/06/20 Screen & Print
This weeks lecture was on screen & print. As technology advances, smartphones and computers are getting more and more available and it has come to a point at which nearly everyone uses their screens as the main medium of communication. This lecture discussed the differences between the type formatting for screen and on paper. For paper type formatting is more close by, closer line length and kerning giving more contrast to it, But for screen its the opposite.

INSTRUCTIONS
Task 2 / Project 2B
Our objective for this task is to use the experience gained from our previous exercises and projects to express a social message typographically. The 2 messages I chose are 'Black Lives Matter' or 'End Police Brutality' because I feel these messages are very important relevant during this time period.
I started in Adobe Illustrator with an A3 canvas according to the instructions. I created margins and rows using the ruler guides and square tool. For the first idea 'Black Lives Matter' I made the canvas black. I used the font Futura std Light Condensed because it was narrow and tall. I adjusted the kerning and tracking.

The dark grey on black signifies the black community. My ideas for the animiation is to make it slowly visible front he blank background to show how more and more people are supporting the cause. The blankness initially shows how the community is oppressed.
For the second one I used the picture of a police line for reference. Managed to get it done using pen tool and rectangle tool. I used the font Universe ltd 59 Ultra Condensed. The word brutality is in red to show the blood poured by police brutality and racism. For the animation of this one I want to keep it simple and just show it go across the screen into place as if the police line is being drawn.

After getting feedback I was told to change the composition. To make the end police part with the pattern and typographically express brutality.
In photoshop, I made the brutality dripping in blood. For the animation, I brought it into Adobe After effects and made the blood drip down using the liquefy tool. Then exported as a gif.

After getting feedback, I was told it lacked precense. So I rearranged and changed the size to make it more eye catching and give it presence.

REFLECTIONS
Week 9
Experience: Looking back through exercises to retouch on my learning for this project.
Observation: Past exercises all served a purpose in teaching us techniques to be used in this project.
Findings: Without looking back, A lot of the stuff I had learned had been implemented into my brain.
Week 10
Experience: Worked on sketches and ways to digitize them.
Observation: My rate of workflow had increased a lot compared to when I first started.
Findings: Learned to add patterns to text using illustrator.

After getting feedback for week 10 I was told my design lacked presence so I did research on what it is and how to implement it into my work. I looked through a page linked by Mr. Vinod for this
