Project 2 - Sense of Place

This weeks lecture was on observation. We were taught on how to observe different things and how ideas and inspiration comes from observing different things. We are to apply observation skills in this project.

Narrative

The objective of this project is make observation of a certain place and make an artwork based off the observed place that represents it. I chose to photograph different things of interest in my room and create a collage in Photoshop using these images.

Process

These are the images I took to use in this collage












The main idea for this piece is to create a metropolis. So I started by bringing the images into Photoshop to crop the elements and then bring them over into a blank A4 Canvas

I started by changing the perspective of the carpet to create a line leading into a subject.

I added my monitor and speakers to the center as it represent my desk setup. I also moves the guitars a bit out of frame and a background.

I added a blending mode to the carpet.

I added shoes to the carpet to give more emphasis on the line leading into center.

I added a cluster of my my air purifier to look skyscrapers.

 I added in some leaves to add a bit of contrast.

Finally I brought it into Lightroom to adjust the colors a bit and play with the exposure to blend everything in a littler better.

After getting feedback, I removed the blending mode from the shoes and added a lens blur to the air purifiers to add depth to it.


Rationale

I decided to make this because I wanted to make something that represents my living space. Even from that I created the one place I spend most of my time since the pandemic and we are stuck at home. I didnt want it to be completely Identical to  my living space which gave me the idea to create a technological metropolis. This represents how technology is increasing and advancing everyday and how It's leading into a technologically advanced future. The older movies tend to represent the future as a Metropolis with huge building and flying cars, which is why chose to make the speakers seem huge and add the cluster of air purifiers to look like skyscrapers.

Advanced Animation - Project 2 - Production

 Project 2 - Production After Animatics and acting was done, we moved onto setting up the set in MAYA. I used a rig for my character called Jasmine Rose by Ahmed Shalaby. I first imported my Acting into Adobe animate and listed out how many frames each scenes used and blocked it out in MAYA. I made set before I did this. Figure 1 - Animation Blocking After I blocked out the scenes I started animating scene by scene. After animating the scenes I added rough lighting to see what it would look like in the final render. Digital Photography & Imaging - Project 3 (Digital Surrealism)

Project 3 - Digital Surrealism The objective this project is to create a surreal artwork in photoshop. Below are some examples of digital surrealism. Process My main idea is to use the first cyborg piece I made and put it into a cyberpunk city. Then it was color matched I used the brush tool to add some glow from the pink sign onto my body in a new layer Saturn image I want to add Whale image I added to the sky, Inspired the the song Gojira - Flying Whales More whale Images Whales and Saturn added in Next I brought it into Adobe after effects for animation.
